  Here you’ll see the  Vancouver Visitors Center, Vancouver National Historic Reserve and Center for Columbia River History. The house was built in 1879 and is named after Oliver Otis Howard, first director of the Freedman's Bureau, which assisted ex-slaves in the days following the Civil War.  The house is one of more than 20 historic homes along this street.
